I'm using the Canon 16-35 f4, 50 f1.4 and 70-200 f2.8 IS II. I just want to make sure I like the way the A7 feels before I sell all my Canon gear.

That's how a lot of us got here. Start with a Sony and adapt EF lenses. Eventually if you like the Sony you will wind up with a lot of FE lenses.

That said, there are some Canon lenses that work remarkably well on Sony bodies. My Canon 24-70 L II works almost like a native lens. Others can be a little frustrating, with a tendency to hunt if the light is low or the contrast is not so good.

Tracking in af-c can perform poorly with adapted glass. Stills will be fine in many cases.

You will see more of a difference processing Sony raw vs your Canon. Hardware wise that’s another learning curve.

I still only use my canon get for hired events.

I just picked up the Sigma 60-600 to replace my Sony 100-400 GM, since it doesn't come in Sony mount I bought the Canon version with an MC-11, the MC-11 does seem to work better than the one I had last year!

I'm debating between the 70-200 2.8 or the 100-400. The 2.8 I need for night stuff but would love the reach of the 400 for shooting sports.

I'll be joining the club next week as I ordered my A7 III today from greentoe. Which lens adapter do you recommend for my Canon lenses? I'm going to rent one before buying Sony lenses.

I have the Sigma MC-11 which does a pretty good job with my Canon lenses. I tried the Metabones V adapter as well. It was good, but I just couldn't justify the cost, especially when I felt the MC-11 was just as good and not nearly as expensive.

Last year when I got the A7III I got the MC-11 and the Metabones V, I much preferred the MBV over the MC-11. Since I got the 60-600 I've been shooting with the MC-11 and the only issue I have is the lens sometimes loses communication with the body (A7III and A9) where I have to "twist" it on the adapter to make it work again. Of course this has happened during critical moments. Blue Angels flying low over the Las Vegas strip ...... yep, that was a mess and I missed my shots completely. Home run hit during a game ...... yep, lens decided to stop focusing .....
I just bought an MBV and I will be testing it, but so far from just testing the MC-11 I can tell it has improved quite a bit since last year.

I'd recommend the Sigma MC-11 adapter, personally. I've put it through the wringer with my Canon 70-200 f/4L IS lens (on the A7iii) and it shines. No issues with AF-C in either Lock-On AF or Flexible Spot AF, other than a couple instances when the lens was zoomed all the way out to 200mm. Here are a couple of examples, with the mountain bike rider coming straight at me at around 15mph, and not in a straight line. The camera nailed the focus on virtually every shot in each sequence (first one using Lock-On, second FS).

And this one was just with Flexible Spot AF with AF-C:

Since I already have the Canon 70-200, I'm not sure why I would ever upgrade to the Sony version. IQ and focus is just as good, it's way cheaper, and it's lighter too.

Anyone tried the new 3.0 firmware update only to have it fail? I've tried a dozen times. A dozen different ways with a dozen different cables and I can not for the life of me get the update to take.

MacBook Pro laptop, LCD on back of A7III says connect. However, when I then open the software updated and run the update, it says can not connect.

Is your camera in Mass Storage mode?
