Possibly because the R brings EF lenses to performance beyond the best of Canon DSLR bodies ?

The EOS R is so good with EF glass, it's not just because of money I haven't ordered the RF 24-105mm.

But for the RP, I don't know the answer for the same thing.

you think you could tell the difference between a shot with the same lens on an EOS R vs a 5DIV?

Not for merely a single photo from each body .. but if you give me the 85mm 1.2 mk ii on both bodies, I could tell the difference when the EOS R moves beyond the 5D mk iv when it comes to focusing. Other lenses, closer performance. But the EOS R is an amazing piece of gear how well Canon engineers enabled adapted EF glass.

Fortunately I spotted this video last autumn just days before selling my 85mm 1.2 on Craigslist. Travis Harris' review spared me from making a huge mistake of selling that lens.

Although it's not likely I'd buy the new RP version, that RP would need to share this same improved performance with EF glass to consider that body as an extra to keep on hand.

Congratulations on your new camera! To make the wait more bearable, you can start reading the manual online! :-)

Thought i would share these the first set is with the old 100-400 L last set is with the 10-22 Canon. Was just trying to see what junk i could shoot through on the 100-400 and the first set are all at 400 mm. Was kinda shocked that the R did ok and not getting lost on the branches and such in the photos. All was shot raw and Neutral setting, export through LR to JPEG. With just screen Sharpen.
