I need to do this myself, and I have nearly the same lenses (35/2, 50/1.8, 100/2)

I can't afford to have all L lenses, and I need to decide which focal length is my "favorite" ... for me it'll either be the 35 or the 50. I hope canon makes an affordable RF 50mm.

I here ya, I have one L prime lens and several L zooms. I would really like the 85 L, 100L, and so on but cant afford them. But I keep coming back to the smaller primes. They really shine on the mirrorless cameras and they are lighter to carry around. I think the 35 will be the go to lens too, with it being one of the only non L primes lens with IS it's great in low light to get sharp images.

Hi I’m also looking into the r and rp. Im using a a7ii now with an mc11, anyone has experience an rp handling the 70 - 200 2.8 is ver1 and 50 1.4? Even though the a7ii is capable camera it’s shot or miss sometimes with canon lenses

I can't speak to those specific lenses, but I can say that in my experience any Canon lens I have tried on the RP with the adapter that comes with the camera seems to perform the same as on my 5DIV. In other words, using the adapter does not seem to compromise the function of Canon EF or EF-S lenses. Hope this helps.

Speaking of lenses, how does the RP do with AF when dealing with extenders? I hear most bodies won't AF with a slow lens with an extender attached, does that apply to the RP as well? Specifically the 100-400 II + 1.4x III combo?

Not the RP, but may apply to it as well.

OK, honest critique ...

I just finished shooting my kids soccer games. I think the RP did OK, but only OK. I still own the 80D and the experience of shooting sports is more pleasant with that camera. The screen black out during multiple shots is annoying. I don't think the blackout caused me to miss any shots, it's just annoying. The frame rate on the RP is perfect as far as I'm concerned ... the 80D's 7 FPS is actually too fast in my opinion, I usually choose the slower setting. Lastly, the tracking is good, but the 80D is better.

If the RP was the only camera I owned, I'd be fine using it for kids sports, but because I own the 80D, I'll probably switch to that for sports.

(my son has the yellow socks ... he scored 3 goals today)
