Harp guitar virtuoso Muriel Anderson on Saturday night at a local venue. Wow is all I can say. Brilliant player AND composer AND singer. And a wonderful, warm person on stage and off. What a delight. Her partner is a pro photographer/artist and puts together a wonderful video/media show on screen for each tune she plays. Her repertoire is all over the map, from Cat Stevens and Mark Knopfler to classical to Finnish folk tunes! And lots of originals.

She is most certainly worth seeing if you get a chance. Lots of videos online so you can get an idea. I became an instant fan on Saturday night.

In case you are wondering how I got this perspective (I was trying to avoid microphones all evening) this is a long shot from the sound booth with a 5D Mark IV and a 100-400 II lens. First time using the 100-400 at a concert, usually it is used for wildlife and I use a 70-300L at venues. But this lens is good at everything so I thought I'd give it a try.

The last person I saw playing one of these was Michael Hedges who died at an early 43 years of age in 1997, I saw him in 1996. She is coming to the Ukelele Festival in Reno in a couple months I will be sure to see her there....

A lot of top class musicians live in or near the town I now call home, sometimes walking down the local pub will bring you a great surprise treat of one of them randomly playing a solo gig

Here are some from Floyd Void, a Pink Floyd tribute band, in March, 2019. The fog machine was in overdrive!

One from Floyd Void in December 2018. This is probably my favorite. It is an odd crop but better than with the microphone in the shot.

Floyd Void from September 2018. This was my first attempt at shooting performers, or people for that matter.

Nice group of photos!

Thanks Ed. It is definitely different shooting people. Lighting was crazy. In a way it is like shooting wildlife. Just watch and enjoy them doing their thing and try to anticipate something interesting and hope the light is OK. At least the don't fly away.

And I can never get those birds to pose for the shot! Nice shots Scott, makes me want to hear them...
