Galaxy Ahead!

I got up at 3am and headed out to Coleyville southwest of Brisbane this morning to shoot the Milky Way. This section of road lined up perfectly with the galactic plane

I had a 24 hr work trip to Airlie Beach near the Whitsunday Islands this week. It was dark when I arrived and I had seminars all day, so there wasn't much time for sightseeing. But I was awake at 4:15am, so I got up and drove to Shute Harbour and did the short hike to Coral Beach (in the dark) with the idea of taking some sunrise photos. I managed this panorama just after the start of astronomical twilight, but about 5 minutes later it started raining and so I had to walk back to the car in heavy rain. So no sunrise shots, but at least I got this panorama

Classic shot at Lake Tekapo, but I had to take it. I was not alone out there at 2 am.

One of these nights when they get my legs working again, first thing i'm going to do is set up and fire away at the nite sky

I tried to shoot a pano with the Sony 85mm f1.8 last night. I didn't take my pano head as I wasn't planning to shoot with this lens, but gave it a go. I'm pretty happy with the result. There is a little bit of star movement that I think a faster shutter speed will fix, but I'll certainly be trying again with the pano head and different settings.

That looks amazing, can i ask what you use as a pano head? I'm using a ball head and struggling.

That shot was just on my ball head, but my pano head is this one by Sunway Photo. Hoping to get out tomorrow night again and try again.
