It will be a few more days before Nifty gets a work-out. I've been on the couch with a bad back this weekend, it is getting better! Snow is in the forecast tonight and tomorrow, though, so bear with me!

Thanks for the good wishes. I’m impatient to get moving again! No snow yet. We might escape with just rain but so far nothing has fallen. Dreary and cold, blah.

Nifty is back in business! Since it's been so dreary and wet we decided to visit the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, CO! And guess what, we weren't the only people there! Apparently it is "school group season" and believe me, there were lots of little ones having a blast. LOL. No problem, except it made it difficult to keep track of what we were seeing and shooting. Oh Well. Here are just a few pics. I'm not a fan of photographing children who I don't know, so I kept Nifty focused on the butterflies and flowers.

Nifty went to a bird banding today! Every spring the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies operates a bird banding station at the Audubon Center at Chatfield. Located against the foothills between Red Rocks Park and Roxborough State Park, the Audubon Center has an outdoor classroom and trails to view the wildlife and 345 bird species that frequent the wetlands, ponds, and forest. It is an important wildlife corridor, with many migrating birds flying through.

Unfortunately it was a slow day for the banders. We watched them band an orange-crowned warbler and a black-capped chickadee. Then we accompanied the banders as they searched the nets for any captured birds but they were empty so we took a long walk on the trails nearby.
