Who else has a hard time seeing their little girls growing up? This is my daughter before heading off to her junior prom.

Well, I'm now the proud new owner of an R. I seem to only buy crap cameras, my last four have been the 7D, 6D, 7Dii and now the R.

I did some basic adjustments to the set up and headed out in the dark for some astro shots, complete with a new lens that arrived as I was heading out the door lol.

Probably not the best way to acquaint yourself with new kit. It took me a few minutes to work out how to get the camera to take a picture at all (some MF/AF setup issues lol)

Anyway, it seems great so far. A few test shots beforehand revealed just how good (accurate) the AF can be (the main reason I bought it). Gone are the days of MFA frustrations... Yay!

Here's one from last night.

WOW, this is gorgeous! If you don't mind me asking, how did you accomplish this? I've done long exposures during the day before but nothing like this.

Thanks Mistabernie. This one is actually a blend of two exposures, 2 minutes at IS0 2000 and f4 for the foreground and 25 seconds at ISO 6400 and f2.8 for the sky.

You can do it quite easily in one shot but to expose properly for the sky you generally won't get great detail in the foreground.

The R was pretty handy for bulb mode. You could either set a timer for the duration you require or you could just start the exposure and the back screen will show you a counter, all you have to do is touch the screen when you're got to the required time and the exposure will stop.

The 50 RF 1.2 doesn’t have a profile in LR yet, correct?

Cheers
