I can sort of understand cameras defaulting to not shooting when there is no memory card, but not shooting with no lens seems to be totally unnecessary. Someone could potentially takes a series of once-in-a-lifetime shots and then find out the hard way that nothing was actually recorded because there is no card, but if anyone actually tries to take one photo without a lens, they will see a solid rectangle of one color (black if the body cap is on), and notice right away that there is no lens. They should feel the camera weight and balance is wrong, too. Who needs protection from that?

I was never really happy with the focusing of any of my DSLRs when using a narrow depth of field and trying to focus on people's eyes. It got to the stage that I wasn't really enjoying taking family pics etc. and that had a follow on effect with the rest of my photography.

It got to the stage that I wasn't really enjoying taking family pics etc. and that had a follow on effect with the rest of my photography. Well the R has changed all that. If the focus point's on the eye, the eye will be in focus... For me, that's a revelation. My 50mm Art has breathed a whole new breath of life! Combine that accurate focusing with the flippy screen, silent shooting and the touch screen for focusing and I'm so happy I decided not to get the 5Div instead. If the latest Sony eye focusing is as good as it's made out to be then I can understand why people complain about the R's efforts, it's not completely refined but it does a damn good job nonetheless. I suggest picking younger female subjects when checking out eye detect… not other members of POTN that are unaware of your intentions. hope he doesn't see this lol Jeff ........, 7D, 70-300L, 100-400LII

May 05, 2019 08:20 | #4108 Hello all- I haven't gone through all 275+ pages here so I assume it has been addressed, but I have a problem with my nose altering the focus point when looking through the viewfinder. Just when I have come to accept my huge honker I now have renewed hatred for my nose!
