This is gorgeous Carlo.

The cut-in-half bokeh balls tells me you had EFCS switched on. Doesn’t degrade the image at all though. Just a stunningly beautiful portrait. Great work!

Thanks David!

Does EFCS cause that? Really good to know!

It does with fast shutter speeds. I don’t recall how fast the shutter has to be to do that. Bet Charlie knows. :)

EDIT:
Looks like around 1/1000 EFCS degrades bokeh: https://phillipreeve.net …ctronic-shutter-function/ (external link)

Ah ok. I knew people were talking about issues with EFCS OOF rendering at fast shutter speed...never knew specifically what the issue is. It's definitely something I need to cognizant of.

Wow that's a long time, you're not able to watch it somewhere? Haha.

I seen this post on Reddit (I won't share it as it's not Sony related and in case someone hasn't seen last weeks episode) where someone thought they wouldn't see any spoilers if they stayed off the Internet but there was a photo of a newspaper with the front page slightly folded and you could just see huge spoilers on the second page :D haha

I was hoping we had HBO in the place we are staying but can’t for the life of me find it. American TV is hard to navigate :)

Got the 24GM yesterday. Ended up watching Endgame again yesterday so I didn't get to shoot with it much. First impressions is that I was expecting it to be smaller. It's lightweight and a good size for a fast 24, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it compact the way I'd consider the Loxia 21 to be. It isn't bulky like the FE 35ZA though.

Quick shot. Really sharp wide open, with typical GM rendering....smooth, flatter colors and contrast, with nice bokeh.

The GM24 is still on my “want” list and that’s the reason I finally let go my (Astro) Samyang 24 to Lee. However I’m loving the Tamron so much that I have actually listed my Batis 25. I’m thinking that I can use the Tamron with the lox 21 and remove the need for an af 25mm (and potentially the GM too)

I've never really enjoyed owning a middle focal range zoom and have always preferred fast primes in those focal ranges.

But I hear so many good things about the tamron 28-75 that I can't help but be curious.

That said, the Tamron 17-28 f2.8 is going to be in my bag one day. There are also rumors of 75-200 type telephoto zoom that I'd likely add too.

I don't know if I could part with the Loxia. Such a special lens even though I never use it. Plus used prices for the lens kinda suck.

A7riii+1.4TCiii+400DOii
The A7Riii's firmware update has so far impressed me more than the a9's but
that is just because of the limited subject matter I shoot.
The a7Riii was the greatest all around body on the market, now it is even better.
Is there not another firmware update coming to it too, or is it just he a9? I can't
keep up with the updates :(

This from very bouncy moving boat in unfriendly wind.

The owner of the villa has some sort of internet tv thing that has Netflix etc and there is an HBO app but it’s asking for an account login so I am guessing you need to subscribe?

I’ve always been the same. The GM24-70 was the first one I really liked but it was too heavy and big. The Tamron strikes a great balance. I couldn’t sell my lox either

I started watching the series starting on May 1st, gave myself motivation to watch one episode a night while doing cardio. Let myself slip a little bit lately with the first number of my weight starting with a 2, instead of a 1 like it has been for all my life. As I’m turning 40 in a few years (37 now), realized now is not the time to it go. What really put a scare into me was when I took my family to the Great Wolf Lodge last weekend and terrified to see so many... large people. Not just middle aged, but young kids who were much, much larger than my kids.

Figured 70 or so episodes of GoT, one episode a night during the week for 45-50 minutes doing cardio and weekends off but still being active, and we’ll see how much weight I can lose. Going to weigh myself after each season to see the results.

That's a good way to keep yourself on exercising for the long period of time! When I need to concentrate on uni work I often sit on a cycling bike and often lose track of time because I get so into the uni work and just keep cycling!

Did anyone ever use the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG lens on an A7X/A9 body with adapter?

Looking through some old photos I really miss that lens and I can get it for cheap second hand so was considering it depending on how well the AF handled.

IMO the IQ was much better than they got credit for but the unpredictability of the AF is what made them appear soft at times.

I just wish Tam would go ahead and start delivering the 17-28 today!
In the mean time I hope it will be released before the big trip north.
I'd take it, the 28-75, the 24GM and be happy.
