I've oft hankered over the Sony mirrorless cameras but since I'm invested in Canon, decided to wait and see - I didn't even know Canon had released the EOS R or RP until I watched Andy's videos recently. MatthewK Cream of the Crop More info | May 06, 2019 05:42 | #4128 Spent a good amount of time this past weekend with my simplified button setup. Much better feel using the camera after disabling the * button and assigning 'AF area selection' to the MF-Fn button up front. Any other small change that doesn't require speed, I use the Q menu. white venom wrote in post #18856881 I am loving the R paired with my Canon 85 1.4L, my keeper rate is so much better with this lens on the R than my 5D4 ![]() 100% concur. The R has transformed my portrait shooting experience w/ primes, especially with the latest Eye/Face Detect. Out of habit, I'm still chimping after taking shots because of that nagging fear of missing the eye, but my mind is blown because almost every shot is in focus, with the occasional miss coming from the natural body movement of photog/subject. It's a joy to be able to not worry about this stuff, right?

Then maybe one lens in a pack, but maybe just the two. I couldn’t imagine not owning a spider holster. I was an early adopter when they were first introduced. That was when they had an inexpensive cheap buckle system and i dropped my 1dmk3 and cracked it as it easily unfastened!!!! Great company as they paid for it to be repaired . 5Dmkiv |5Dmkiii | 24LmkII | 85 mkII L | | 16-35L mkII | 24-70 f/2.8L mkii| 70-200 f/2.8 ISL mkII| 600EX-RT x2 | 580 EX II x2 | Einstein's

I was so disappointed. Them's fighting words - Blizzard Pearl or Starfire Pearl would be my choice. https://www.flickr.com/photos/127590681@N03/

(2 edits in all) | May 06, 2019 14:04 | #4140 Dj R wrote in post #18857225 question for you canon pros. I am a canon shooter who went to nikon for 3 years d750 d850, and have now been shooting sony a7riii a9 for two years. so it's been five years, during which, I've been shooting more than ever. so I really don't remember my 5DIII days too much. certain events, I use aperture mode, auto ISO (with parameters lets say 100-1600), and a set min SS (let's say minimum 1/250th). with nikon and sony, the metering is pulled from the AF point (option that I love), so I use spot metering - which is what I prefer, shoot people. so metering is pulled from the skin, and then with all the DR in the files, I can work with everything else typically. Shooting with the Eos R right now, 50 ef 1.2L was a first love. So I'm giving it a "go" with the 50 rf 1.2L right now! great glass! I'm finding this metering method that I used formerly... doesn't work well with canon b/c the metering is not pulled from the AF point - unless it's center point? is this an accurate statement? I’m gona say yes.... I to was a spot metering lover for years.. with the R I have found it handles the whites and highlights quite well in Evaluative mode and I like the skin tones. It does skin very well. IMO Image hosted by forum (976047) © Pondrader [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. Jeff ........, 7D, 70-300L, 100-400LII
