That's a cracking shot! I've only managed a poor shot of one. Hopefully this year maybe I will. They sound great.

Hello.

My 1-D X will not power-up.
It is a well cared-for camera, never abused, and all batteries and contacts are pristine and in good order.
The door for the dual cards is functional and secure.
The On-Off switch feels correct.
I replaced the button cell for the clock and the always-on functions.

I have read on The Forum where some owners of this camera had problems with early batches.
I don't know in this moment, if mine is of "early" manufacture.
(S/N 402013000256)

I am a CPS member in the USA and I was going to send it them for evaluation,
but I wonder if anyone here has any tips for me before I send it in, and have "surgery" performed on it.

Thank you for any and all advice,

Mark A.

Well folks, it's been years since I've belonged to this thread, and owned this camera. Finally, though, I felt it's time to move it to a new home. So, while I may be leaving the 1Dx camp, and don't really know where I'm headed in the near future, I figured I'd share a new pic with the best duo, ever (for my purposes, anyway). The 1Dx and 85L II. Thanks to all, for the laughs/tips/suggestions/chats, et al. It's been a great road...catch you around. ;)

Ha! squashed (Gary)...too funny. I'm sure you'll carry the torch, just fine! I'm packaging it all up, charging the battery so it's near full once you receive it, and making sure everything is there as promised (which it is). Enjoy it...I have, immensely. ;)

Thanks for your response Jeff.

The camera went to CPS in Virginia and is now on its return trip to me.
I'll examine it on the weekend, and hope for the best.

From their work-order, they stated this: "The following part(s) will be replaced, FP PCB assembly".

I do not know what the FP means but I at least figure that it is some nature of a printed circuit board.

$324 USD parts & labor, before my CPS discount applies.

(I love the blue-eyed kitten foto, BTW!!!)
