From Carson's kindergarten graduation. He's a really emotional guy and was so proud of himself he was about to cry lol. Usually I find kindergarten graduations are kinda petty, but he had a particularly tough year. We started him at the highly stuck up privately school his older brother had been in for 6 years. Carson is a bit more 'unconventional' than his brother, and didn't fit the rigid mold that the head-master (that's what he calls himself) at his school. Instead of trying to work with him, they would deflect on their responsibilities as educators and blame his behavior on everything else and it took a toll on his self confidence. They went as far as to try to get us to test him for behavioral disorders, so we ripped both him and his brother out of that school in the middle of the year and put him in a montessori school where he's been flourishing. Academically, he tested at a second and third grade level.

Breaks my heart when a school does stuff like that...good on you for realizing it and acting...he will be much better off as a result.

I need to take some profile headshots too. I'm very rarely in front of the camera.

Thanks. It's crazy to think about how long that is at one job. It is hopefully my last job working for someone else...

Nice portrait. Some don’t like the look of a thin dof portrait - especially if only one eye is in focus - I’ve always liked the look myself. I hope you find the 135GM to your liking.

19 years! Wow. I only worked at two companies in my career, but I worked each company twice.

I like it for me...cause I don't like having my picture taken...for a client I would shoot a variety of apertures to give different looks.

Yeah I'm only disappointed that we didn't recognize it sooner because we spent a couple of months coming down on him really hard because he was struggling to meet the behavioral expectations there. It was tough for us to recognize because his older brother had done really well there....but kids have different personalities and both parents and educators need to be flexible in their approaches instead of blaming young kids for not fitting a rigid mold. It was definitely a learning experience for us.

That particular school was more concerned with its reputation and decorum than doing whatever it takes to help kids succeed. Our eldest did fine there, but I honestly don't want him adopting that elitist mindset as he enters middle school so we plucked him out too.

One portrait book that I've read said, once the eyes are in focus you're in focus. So to me it's good.

Good on you for doing that... we should have done that with one of our kids and still regret not doing it to this day.

In the Lincoln Tunnel going to NYC from the top level of a double decker bus. We paid a few bucks extra to get the front seat. Was it worth it?

Finally delivered this series of images from a recent photoshoot of the historic Sam Houston House located at Fort Sam in Satx. The house is now a hotel for the Army but it served as the first hospital on base in 1886. This was the first time I used flash lighting for my architecture work. Definitely learned a lot through the process. All of the exterior shots had sky replacements done as requested by the client. We shot the building on a cloudy day.

Beautiful work. I viewed your photos before reading your description and glad I did because I can honestly tell you they look great...I did not suspect a sky replacement.

I’ve been enjoying a day out shooting - using the 12-24, 50, and 100 and I have a growing recognition that it’s going to be really hard to justify adding the amazing 24GM for one simple reason: I love shooting the 12-24 too darn much.

If I had to grab either it'd be the 12-24 without doubt. I can even do Milky Way with no coma.

Haha you're pulling my leg and I know it!
Honestly if have any valuable input it might (emphasize might) be with longer lenses but I'm at the point
where I've decided that the 100-400 will do 95% of everything I'd ever want to shoot and that all the other
efforts are just vainful.
Truthfully with the latest crop of FE lenses can we ask for anything more? and your latest 100mm, another shimmering
gem to use. At this point if I could have anything right now it'd be the Tam 17-28 just to save a touch of weight for trips.
