Great blue heron. Actually it was an in flight shot, but it flew too close so it became a head shot

Even though they're probably the most common bird around here, I can count on 1 hand how many shots of a male Northern Cardinal I'd consider "decent". I have solid results with the females, but there's just something about the dudes that just seems to make my camera not work right when pointed their way. Got lucky this evening though, I think.

Also, today was the first time that I took my daughter out with me (11 months old now). She was a good sport about it, until she wasn't

Here are some more Great Horned Owls!

The first picture - 3 owls - I was looking for some Northern Flickers and
suddenly noticed the group of owls!
I had my 300 mm with double converter - which was way too long,
so standing on a big root, I had to remove the converter to be able to take the picture!
At the end, I was very happy with the results!

The 2nd picture - I just got to the lake to go kayaking and noticed 1 of the owlets
sitting on a log! I was close, I could hear the clicking noise they make with their peak!

The 3rd picture was taken from the kayak!

:p That’s funny, because when I saw that picture, it reminded me of one of Tom’s . He’s definitely the King of Perches ! If you look in the background, you can see the Flicker’s mate on another tree.

Maybe we could establish a perch sharing program where we ship around to members here different perches! Though I'd
have hardly anything unique like Tom does to share.
