Picked up a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens yesterday. Started figuring out how to use it this morning. I've got a lot to learn, especially how to be sneakier :-)

I did manage to grab a couple of decent shots...

I would like to share with you all one of those moments I had where you cannot believe what you are looking at through your camera. I was almost shaking......The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker although not the rarest bird I've seen it is certainly one of the most hardest birds to see in the UK. I have only seen them a few times from afar and under a heavy forest canopy. Better still I found a nesting pair. In my 15years bird watching/photography this was my best moment. Although these are heavily cropped photo's and taken with a 600mm + 1.4x TC I was too scared to get too close for fear of frightening and disturbing them. I am confident to say that they were not aware I was watching them. This has really been special for me and I consider it to be a magical moment. They are small woodpeckers about half the size of a great Spotted Woodpecker.

Great find Paul, and you've got a week or two to work it judging by the no chicks poking their heads out to grab the food yet.

Wow, just wow! I can guess exactly how you feel, Paul. Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to happen across two different male Lesser Spots. They were the first I had seen in 15 years so I was totally over the moon. If either of them had been close enough to snap like this I would have been totally incoherent with joy.

Thank you very much for your nice comments, Mike, Melissa, Bob and Ted! Bob, they are performing a "rushing" ritual, literally running on water.

Stunning shot, Ted!
