Hello all.. I haven't seen a thread like this and thought it would be interesting to see everyone's photos taken while backpacking or hiking. My wife and brother and I started two different three day section hikes in Virginia on the Appalachian Trail. Day 2 and my wife rolled her ankle, so our trip is ending. :-(
Once back home, I'll post the pictures I was able to take. We at least did Dragons Tooth trail yesterday. Taking a DSLR and tripod while backpacking is definitely a challenge as most backpackers try to pack as light as possible.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's pics.

Happy Shooting - Jamey

Day 2 hiking to McAffee Knob my wife rolled her ankle. Thanks to the Roanoke fire rescue workers that helped her get off the trail.

Nice... Free hiking poles for people to use?? That comes in handy!! Have always wanted to go to Switzerland. The wife and I are discussing places to go and Switzerland is one....

Thanks for sharing.

40 years ago this July 4 my brother and I did our first backpacking trip together. We were in the Bridger Wilderness in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming for Independence day, 1979. Our route was called the Doubletop Mountain loop. We planned for 6 days, but what you see in the photo is about the best weather we saw. We were steadily rained on, hailed on, sleeted on, and the only shelter was what we carried with us... not even a tree to hide under for 3½ days above timberline. Only briefly one morning did we see any actual sun, and that for only about an hour. We cut it a day short and hiked out 16 miles the 5th day. It was a memorable adventure.

Please excuse the condition of the images. Photos were taken on transparency film, poorly stored for 35 years, then scanned.

That's great!! My wife and I started backpacking about 3 years ago... Short weekend trips. This was our first extended trip and as stated above, day two was the last. You look like you guys were really loaded down. Sometimes the most trying trips (like yours sounded to be) make the best memories.
Love your shots....

Thanks

.
Here's one I took while hiking in Colorado last autumn.
I don't know why it looks soft and out of focus and blurry - uploading to POTN always does that to my photos. . Everywhere else I upload them to, they look nice and sharp.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

A hiker rests
When I was living in Seattle in the 1970s, a German acquaintance's son came visiting the city. I took him up to see the Cascades.

P.S. This thread was a great idea. Thanks!
