I would like to share with you all one of those moments I had where you cannot believe what you are looking at through your camera. I was almost shaking......The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker although not the rarest bird I've seen it is certainly one of the most hardest birds to see in the UK. I have only seen them a few times from afar and under a heavy forest canopy. Better still I found a nesting pair. In my 15years bird watching/photography this was my best moment. Although these are heavily cropped photo's and taken with a 600mm + 1.4x TC I was too scared to get too close for fear of frightening and disturbing them. I am confident to say that they were not aware I was watching them. This has really been special for me and I consider it to be a magical moment. They are small woodpeckers about half the size of a great Spotted Woodpecker.

Those are common here. They're the plainest birds that visit our yard. Not sparrows. Bigger, almost dove size. Their call is plain as well, just a brief chirp. I found the species name once and unfortunately forgot it.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome
