A couple of sunrise shots from yesterday morning. The painted rocks on the Break-wall required some fun lighting techniques.

The moment the sun kisses the horizon at Fulton Beach Rd. TX taken this morning.
Edit to add: I thought about it and this photo illustrates a sharp, environmental contrast. On one hand, it is a peaceful, serene scene with smooth water. At the same time, it shows that the destructive Hurricane Harvey was here in 2017 with the yet to be repaired pier.

Sometimes it just feels like someone is having fun painting the sky with a brush and some paint... I mean, how can that be real? Totally surreal sunrise at Mt Cook National Park, New Zealand (on May 22).

And here I wanted to sleep in after two long filled days of hiking and photography. I looked through the window of my van, saw some high clouds in the sky, and thought "alright, it has the potential to be a good one". Well, it turns out that it definitely was a great one !

10k Sunrise!!!

The early bird gets the worm... In this case, a beautiful sunrise from Haleakalā National Park in Maui, Hawaii... Woke up at 2am to make our way up the summit of the mountain at a little over 10k above sea level... It was cold, dark, and windy... But all was good, as the sun started to rise above the horizon and fill the skies with magnificent colors these eyes have ever seen... Truly a wonderful experience that I'll have for the rest of my life... The image below doesn't do it justice, but you can get a jist of what it entailed... Canon 5DsR + 16-35L2 + Lee 105mm CPL and Lee 0.9 Soft Edge GND Filter (stacked)... ISO 100, f/5.6 @ 0.3sec exposure...

:)

Red sky in the morning's a shepherd's warning!

I have a similar rhyme, this is the way I learned it as a child.
"Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning,
Red skies at night mean a sailors delight".

Either way, kudos to everyone here for such stunning captures!:-)
