I'd a lucky encounter this morning. I was just doing a quick test of my Tamron 150-600mm on my EOS R following a firmware update and had a lucky encounter with an osprey being dive bombed by a feisty fantail.

Very nice RTH capture, Mike! Looked like it was flying pretty low. How do you know it was looking for squirrels and not gophers?

Thank you very much, Shalu.

The whole side of the hill is full of squirrels. On a couple of occasions I've seen this hawk capture a squirrel. He hunts here every evening. I'm sure he'd grab a gopher if the opportunity presented itself.

Fantastic shot. The osprey is doing some high steppin' to get away from the fantail. :p

Very nice mallard/park duck cross, Shalu. I find those shots pretty tough when they are coming right at me.

Thank you very much, Mike! I was thinking this is not the standard Mallard with green head. My main issue with head on shots is that many frames have the focus on the body, not eyes. I don't know if the next firmware upgrade with animal eye AF will work for birds in this situation

I've seen you mention that next upgrade that is due this summer. It will be so cool it it actually does focus on the eyes of wildlife (especially birds). I will be very jealous, for sure. :-)
