Great use of DOF picking up the little tips that haven't opened yet.

Another carnivorous bladderwort, Utricularia leptoplectra, from a boggy sand plain a little to the north of Litchfield National Park.

These are the flowers on the plum tree in my backyard. A big storm took the whole tree out in February so I'm glad I photographed it the year before.

Stylidium semipartitum, trigger plant, adjacent to Tolmer Creek in Litchfield National Park.

Its genus name is derived from the Greek στύλος or stylos (column or pillar), which refers to the reproductive structure in its flowers. Pollination is achieved by a sensitive 'trigger', comprising the male and female reproductive organs fused into a floral column that is, at rest, bent back but which quickly snaps forward when touched by a nectar-feeding insect, covering the insect in pollen that then fertilises other stylidium flowers as the insect moves on to continue feeding. Trigger plants are also partly carnivorous, with glands on the flower and stalk secreting enzymes that trap, kill, and digest small insects.

I'll try to remember to take a macro lens next time to properly show the trigger feature.

Another trigger plant, this one is Stylidium fissilobum, from a boggy sand-plain just north of Litchfield National Park.
