My eye is on the rumored 200-600 as well. If it comes in 2k or less I’ll probably preorder. I would also like an a7000 for wildlife as well. I saw a rumor that Nikon might be releasing new mirrorless cameras as well. If they could release an aps-c mirrorless similar to a7 iiii performance I’d be really tempted. I really want a 500 PF, but would prefer it on mirrorless. I have very little hope that Sony will introduce this type of lens.

Yes to all of that Daniel.
I'm not committed to any 1 system.
If Nikon puts out a function mirrorless that will work the 500PF I'd have no choice.
But it will require an adapter don't you think ????
Adapters have really come a long way, well the MC-11 has. Shooting the DOii on the Sony is such a pleasure
now...............but it is still an adapter :(

thanks, all natural light, no strobes on that one, it is a blend of two frames, but one frame was really only to recover some of the hot spot on the floor.

nope, good old fashioned layer masking and blending by hand...I have found I can get better more natural looking images doing it this way.

High water on the North Fork Payette makes for scary rapids in the classic Class V run. But upstream in Cascade it makes for super sweet surf waves that are breaking overhead all day long!

I set the exposure and focus point on the 6500 and handed it to a gal on the bank watching and told her to just lay on the shutter button ;-)a. Worked out pretty well.

These are all fairly heavily cropped from he 56mm.

This is about 5 hours later in the day and about 800m higher looking across to Carn nan Gabhar from Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain that I had just came down off. Big difference in the grass colour compared to sea level in the shot above.

I'm on the fence about grabbing another 70-200 gm. Its massive, expensive, and not the sharpest telephoto available, but extremely versatile with great autofocus for weddings. 85mm is long enough for the majority of what I shoot, but there are time when I need longer focal lengths. Plus if I ever want super telephoto focal lengths, I can add the extenders to my kit.

The flipside is that I can easily rent this lens as needed and still come out ahead because it's so expensive...its just a hassle.

Bokeh is not 85gm caliber...but neither are any of the 135's. This is what pushes me back to the 70-200.

I hate that this lens makes so much sense for me. Tamron apparently has a telephoto zoom in the works. I am going to preorder their UWA as soon as it's available. I just question the autofocus performance since I'd be using it for critical work.

The water is not as cold as some rivers. With the right gear it's all good!
