I posted this in the Squirrel thread, didn’t realize there was a Chipmunk thread until it was pointed out to me by Mark A

I'm checking back in to this thread after a very long hiatus ..... so many great posts since I last visited! . I am glad that these little guys are appreciated so much here on POTN.

I thought this thread was for Chippies and Ground Squirrels, but I am seeing quite a few posts that feature tree squirrels. . What's up with that? . Isn't there already a thread for tree squirrels?

Jeff, this would be awesome fodder for the Title Fairy, if you didn't already have a great custom title!

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

We have a lot of chipmunks around our house. We put food and water out for them to keep them out of trouble, like chewing the wires off the heat pump.

I have a spot for Chipmunks and Ground Squirrels just 45 minutes from home. . Specifically, they are the Least Chipmunk, Tamias minimus and the Cascade Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel, Spermophilus saturatus. It should be noted that the Cascade Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel is a completely different species than the familiar Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel, not just a subspecies.

Here is the Cascade Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel, photographed two days ago in the Okanogan National Forest. . Note that the stripes are not nearly as distinct as those on the Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel. . The striping pattern is the same, but the stripes are much more faintly colored.

Cute shots, Lee. Sharp as a tack. I like the pose and expression on the face of the first chipmunk. He kinda looks like he did something wrong.
