Cybershot RX100 - post pictures and discussions from either versions

Prairie crocus, foothills of southern Alberta. This shot challenged the close-up abilities of the camera, especially the focusing.

The camera has not many creative filters, doesn't focus near for macros, there isn't a touch screen, but takes good quality pictures

Does anyone have an opinion on the new RX100 Mark VII? It's supposed to be good with sports, and has a mic jack. But, no neutral density filter and it's priced at an eye watering $1200 American dollars.

I have the original RX100, and it is getting a bit old, so I was looking at the new Mark VII. For sure it would be an improvement on the old model. But it seems like a lot of the advantages have to do with video, which I have utterly no interest in. The new lens, the viewfinder, and a few other things appeal. But heck, this is a camera for casual use. I take my RX100 on hikes or to family gatherings. The pics get emailed around or posted to social media. Would anyone notice the difference? Would anyone exclaim, Wow, your pics are so much clearer! Did you get a new camera??

No, nobody would say that. So I'm not biting.
