I like it, but the composition seems off. Next time, in your mind, divide the frame into a 3x3 grid and do one, or more (if possible) of the following:

Pick a point at the top left and bottom right where a grid line touches the edge of the frame and compose the subject so that a natural line in it connects those two points. Like a wing, for example. Do not compose the scene so that a natural line in the subject intersects a corner.

Compose the scene so that a natural line, or some aspect of the subject is present where two grid lines intersect.

The first is a variation of the rule of thirds, and the second is the rule of thirds.

Also compose the scene so that the subject fills the frame. The dead space to the left of the subject doesn't work because the critter's face isn't in the frame.

Me thinks that you've got a pretty good grip on the light, and how the camera sees it. Just need to bring your A game where composition is concerned. Study abstract art...

A big thanks for the comments. Just so you know, I take no exceptions to any comments made concerning anything I do. As I love discussing the reasoning why an image was taken.

That said. I must admit I tend to be ignorant when it comes to compositional elements. I must also admit that I was trying to avoid the rule of thirds............I was trying to achieve symmetry and patterns. Evidently, with no great success. In my attempt to create a dark and moody image in the world of macro, unfortunately, I became afflicted with "tunnel vision" and failed to recognize my mistakes. Again, thank you.

Lol, I would endorse avoiding the rule of thirds!

Yes, I'm glad the fly is not as big as a dog(or bigger...) that would be scary! (the little green one is no bigger than 3-4mm excluding antennae )
