Graphics Card Recommendations

Hi,

I am looking to get a graphics card for a good spec PC (i7, 32GB, 256GB SSD and 4TB of HDD storage). If I recall correctly, the GFX card is not the most important part of the system which is just for PS editing. I would appreciate any suggestions as there is a baffling array of cards out there. Thanks in advance.

Just editing and general pc work, or also gaming? Any video work? If it's just editing and general, just about any new-ish card will do fine. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Nvidia cards seem to work a bit better with PSCC.

No gaming or video. I have a spare GeForce GTX 750 with 2GB maybe I will try that first.

If you think that you would ever want th use any of the Topaz AI products, you will need a fairly high end graphics card. My PC, 3 years old, does not work for the AI.

I don't even use a graphics card. I use the graphics capability built into my i7 2600K. Using a graphics card can in theory increase performance a little for 2D by offloading CPU and RAM to the graphics card. Some things can be hugely accelerated by using a good graphics card - but less than you'd expect.

I'd try with no graphics card or the one you own, and only buy another with good reason after doing fairly extensive research on the benefits in the software you use.

not just any graphics card will get the resolution needed if you have a 4k monitor. you'll have to factor that in too now as 4K displays become more popular.
