My first thought when seeing this is that it almost looks like the bird on the right stayed in one spot, and the bird on the left is the same bird, but just hopped closer and you created a composite from 4 shots  :p

I believe that there were 2 couples on the left and a single male on the right who wanted to join, but he was forced to leave :-)
