Right now, we're going through the typical "Gloom in June" cycle where it's overcast in the morning, burning off to temps in the mid 80's. Here's the current weather at my house according to my own weather station. The forecast says it should be sunny and 85° later today.

Oh, and in answer to the question you asked on my Flicker page. Yes, it says "Gene was here". :)

One of my favorites from the Roan Trip. I don't get to work in a foggy forest very often, so I loved it.

Had to edit the upload...a keyboard shortcut I am so used to at home was not the same on the laptop...so it jacked up the color...

My border collie Kody passed away on Saturday. He was with us for 16 years. Awesome dog and have lots of great memories with him.

F2 is the sweet spot for the voigtlander 40...1 stop down is usually the case for fast primes. f1.2 is too shallow of DOF in most cases...harder to MF, but also not enough DOF for your subject. At F2 it's also a big sharper, and CA in OOF goes away. There are football bokeh balls wide open, but the thing is, they're not fully round stopped down either....OOF highlights take on a decagon shape at F2, but its not a big deal.

If you frame loosely and there's a lot of crap going on in the background, f1.2 is nice to have though as you'll see a difference there. It matters most for environmental posed portraits IMO...less for documentary stuff.

Rokinon 45 f1.8 is looking like a solid lens, but I can't get over the rendering of the voigtlander.

This guy turned 1 today.

Wow! Remember when mine were just that age! Hope a great birthday was had!

If I want shallow DOF/separation with great sharpness then f/1.7 is my go to. It's nice to be able to use it wider though if needed.

I heard that in some areas over here they had more that June's average rainfall in less than a week....!! It's certainly not 'summer' that's for sure!

EDIT - Sorry for the spamming guys

We've had a few nights away on the north Somerset coast & I promised myself no internet or Facebook whilst away :-)

Well, this was actually just outside of the City on our way to the coast. Not the best display & literally a 1 minute 'stop & shoot' situation but pretty pleased with how good I managed to make them look in all honesty!! It doesn't look as good in real life to an average passer-by!!
