Better than a pigeon-toed observer!

Yes, but pigeon-toed & knock-kneed is more truthful. :-)

What an improvement! That pigeon now looks really nice.

I'm pretty hopeless at processing, but I never use the sharpen tool because I always find the results too harsh. I prefer the unsharp mask because it allows finer control. For uploading here, I resize the photo to 1200 pixels wide and re-run a mild unsharp mask over it again, generally at 100% (because resizing always softens the photo a bit). That said, however sharp the shot looks on my screen, it never retains quite the same sharpness when uploaded here. How other people get round this I have no idea, but they clearly do. I guess they have better sharpening techniques.

Sometimes I have used the high pass filter method explained here, but I've never been entirely happy with the results and always find myself returning to the unsharp mask.

Curve-billed Thrasher, the sinister foil to the innocent doves that I posted earlier today.

Just having some fun… :-)

Rufous Hummingbird on nest, Calgary. This was taken about two weeks ago and I have heard the eggs have hatched and there are two young in the nest. I have not been back to see it myself.
