BIRD FIGHT

Yesterday morning I was taking some photos of a Snowy Egret that was wading along the edge of a small pond looking for minnows, when another Egret dived from above and attacked my egret. A furious dueling battle ensued as each Egret tried to stab the other with its long bill. The bird I’d been watching got the worst of it. It seemed to be wounded and it limped away across the water and then flew, mostly on one wing. The entire battle was over in less than a minute. I guess it was a territorial dispute.

Hi Robert...

That's one beautiful photograph of a regal owl. Very well done.

Since a female red-winged blackbird isn't very colorful, I thought I'd try a soft b&w treatment.

Hi Michael...

I don't often like black and white for wildlife, but this one is definitely a wonderful exception. Nice work on the conversion with a full tonal range.

Thanks Tom! I told my wife that this is probably the best shot I've taken with with my new Tamron 150-600 lens. She wasn't that impressed. :-|

Great series of action pics. They are special for the story they tell. Photographically I like 2 the best.
