Cool looking wood duck family shot, Paul. The green duckweed kind of adds to the overall appeal.

Very nice shot. This bird reminds me of our American Robin.

Momma Ruddy Duck & Young

This has been a rather sad story to observe. Each day black-crowned night-herons have picked off her babies, one by one. She tries to fight back as aggressively as she can, but the herons are too fast for her. She is no match for them. I was hoping these last two would fare better than the other little ones, but no such luck. They have disappeared from the pond too. :-(

Lovely image Mike.
The Gulls and Crows are relentless down here at the beach.
They swoop down and carry away the Black Skimmer babies.

Very nice shot, Mike! I have never seen Ruddy duck babies before. Sad story but that's nature.

Yes, but that's mother nature, Pag. Sometimes she's kind and sometimes she's not so kind. Looking at the big picture, however, it all works well. The strongest and the smartest survive.

Thank you very much Paul.

It all seems to cruel and unfair at times, but somehow the whole plan seems to work quite well.

One of my favourite warblers. I'm lucky enough to have them nesting in my woodlot most years.

This is nice and nice to see. We only hope to get a glimpse, then quickly put the lens on them during spring migration here in Texas.

Yes, this can be heartbreaking to watch, Mike. I had a family of wood ducks on my pond. I never did find out what got them, but one by one, they all dissappeared.

Interesting but sad story, Mike. I hadn't known that Night Herons would attack ducklings. Very pretty photo.
