Hi Mike...

Nice photograph of a unique Cactus Wren. I've seen many, many Cactus Wrens but never a tail-less one. It's always a wonder to see how animals adapt by overcoming tragedy in their lives.

Tom

Thanks Tom. The little guy seemed very healthy and energetic.

Mike

Nice work! Juve Redtails seem to be a lot more cooperative than the adult variety

Absolutely Stunning, Weja your photo gives one the opportunity to see the difference between the male and the female, and what better way than a bit of hanky pinky.;-)a

It's the first time I've seen Egyptian Geese on the Somerset Levels. They were introduced as an ornamental wildfowl species and have escaped into the wild.

Was this a raw file / out of camera iso 1600 as is or was it cancelled out via layer masks? Just curious as I'm comparing the 80d + 100-400 II vs D500 + 500pf, and I like real world results.

Yes. It is in the Yasuni National Park and the salt lick attracts hundreds of parrots every day. Most of these are different kinds of green parrot, but a few Scarlet Macaws also show up. The pic below gives an idea of what the scene is like. It depicts the cliff above the pool.

Rufous Hummingbird on nest, Calgary. This was taken about two weeks ago and I have heard the eggs have hatched and there are two young in the nest. I have not been back to see it myself.

Nice work!

It was a lot more difficult to get mom + lil ones once they've hatched after around the 1st/2nd week, and then becomes even more difficult after that if she sees you present; atleast that was my experience with the Anna's at eye level + nest about 5 feet away. Had better luck setting the camera on the tripod and walking away, leaving it to shoot video. You should get back there soon to maximize your chances of a feeding shot!

Quite simply, the best Lesser Goldfinch photo I've yet seen.
