Back from the Baja so will be posting way too many blah shots to make you all suffer thru. I go to the Baja to fish not to take pics..... I had to skip last year due to some issues and we usually go to La Paz but since Chapo's capture La Paz is a war zone so we went to a new place called Loreto. I love it much quieter and easy to get around. But had a horrible time fishing due to wind and finding the right outfit to fish with.

I ended up spending an afternoon on the beach and the birds were entertaining me so I tried some BIF .....nothing as good as MM I really need to work on my A9 100-400 settings for this with the added caveat of shooting some from a 23 foot Panga in 4-5 foot seas.

Got a few I like

nothing wrong with any of those! I had Pelicans at the beach, but never got good shots of them other than from below!

I watched Kai, tony Northrop and Alex strohl reviews and none of them mentioned the thin column. I wonder if it’s really strong since it’s made of carbon? I wish I hadn’t watched the videos as now I want one :D

then I maybe better not!

That's going to be a beast surely....!?!?

The rumor is interesting because of the comment Sigma made about the difficulty involved with developing dull frame lenses on FE mount due to the throat diameter... And yet they're releasing the widest aperture AF lens.

If this really is the case, then yes the lens will be massive.

Man, why will no one release a 35 f/1.8 or f/2??

f/1.2 sounds heavy!

I like my ZF.2 Distagon 35/1.4, but it'll be up for sale when a good, reasonably light/compact 35/2 hits.

You read my mind...Grassy Ridge...that trail requires a narrow profile...I had issues last time...and I want to do some other hikes in GSMNP...

hmmm...maybe I need to go watch a few...

The accessory hole on the side of the Leofoto is 1/4-20.
So pretty much standard.
Could have a bracket there to hold a large USB power brick to run-
heat strip on end of lens to prevent condensation
Genie Minie
The Sony camera
Etc.
I've been gaffer's taping the battery brick to the tripod :(

A family session I did for one of the teachers at my daughters school...tried to get a little of the Atlanta skyline into the background...a rare 5 person image that didn't have to need at least one head transplant...saves me a lot of time in editing anyway!

Robert, I'm actually in the process of ordering the Leophoto, LS 284C. The kit I'm looking for is a combo that includes the legs as well as a RRS BH40 knockoff. I have an old Gitzo Explorer that I left in our place in Portugal but I need a ballhead for it and I hate having to travel back and forth with a ballhead in my suitcase so my thought was to order the LS 284C combo and take just the ballhead and leave the legs behind. Not sure if your tripod came with the ballhead or not if it did what was your assessment of it?

The LS legs look pretty good, they are a clear copy of the RRS legs as is the ballhead it ships with but the legs have received some pretty good reviews.

that highlights one of the things I wish the 1635GM had...aperture ring on lens...I have grown to really like that on the 85GM...

Ever since Death Valley, I have not gotten out to shoot much in the way of landscapes...a couple work trips, but mostly its been architecture and people...all well and good..but I really needed to get out...I was hoping that Roan Mountain would be a trip that saw another abundant amount of images on the cards...and it just didn't happen that way. Most of what I shot I don't like, I either can't stand the comp, I made mistakes, or the elements I needed were missing...but this image...easily my favorite of the trip. I wandered off trail, I saw this patch of ferns back in the forest...wonderful moss covered trees, and fog...

Most everything else from the trip sucked, and I don't really want to edit them...there are a few that I will edit when I get time...but for now...I have paying clients to finish work for...
