And that commute from Stockton to the Bay Area gets more and more congested. What was once a 1.25-1.50 hour drive to SF not takes over 2-3 hours during peak times. Hell, I've been stuck a mile from the Bay Bridge toll plaza for more than an hour alone! Glad I don't make that drive any longer

I couldn't do it. Not even half of that! I spend about 20-25 minutes TOTAL per day commuting. That's pretty much perfect!

Me too, but maybe not for another year or more. I quite like my 35mm Art and always wants a f/1.4 lens so should really stick with it. I only paid $799 AUD for it too which was really good!

I’m really loving the CV40 but if this 35 1.8 is good optically/size/weight I’ll find it hard to resist

There's no way I would do it now! It wasn't so bad back when I was doing it 25 years ago. I could get to my destination in just over an hour back then and the income was 5 times greater than what I could have made in my home town so it was worth it. Nowadays, I work out of my pickup truck servicing car dealerships as far as 40 minutes north or south of my home, driving 20,000 to 30,000 mile per year. This July will be 21 years in business. The biggest difference is enjoying what I do

I read in a psych journal that a 20-24 min commute can be a healthy separator....
Shorter commutes and you bring work home with you :(
Longer than 45 min's becomes a 2cd job=bad.

Another thought guys/gals.
That 1/2x20 hole for the accessory arm in the Leofoto 284C.
Has anyone every seen a screw in strap boss?

I'm thinking for those who carry big lenses on their tripods OVER THEIR SHOULDER.
The 200-600G has a strap boss on the side near the lens mount.
Might be good insurance for those who carry that way a strap from one boss to a boss
on the tripod.

Does that make any sense?

I used to do a similar thing with my large lenses. I used an Optech quick release strap attach under the tripod head and to the lens, just in case. Fortunately never needed it though

I’m 30-45 mins each direction. Anything up to 1 hour each way and I’m ok. Anything longer and it’s stress

Edit - don’t get me wrong though, the shorter the better!

Unless you find a way to make the commute enjoyable. I love music. Loud audiophile music. All of my vehicle have been equipped with stereo systems that allow me to immerse myself into the music. Not the bass induced rattle-trap type of stereos, but the concert-hall clarity kind :-)

I’m lucky and have a 2 mile commute on my cargo bike. I always arrive at work in a happy mood. Driving in traffic is one of the worst ways I can imagine spending my time.

It seems it's not a G so I think it may be a 35mm version of the f/1.8! I'm pretty excited for the announcement!

sel35f18f mentioned by nokishita.....

Of course - I just ordered the SEL 28 f/2 because I wanted a moderately wide, faster than 2.8 prime... vmad

edited to add: Sony Rumors is saying that they expect it to be priced similarly to the 50/1.8, which is $248 (external link)... that, I find hard to believe.

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.

I would only trust what Nokishita says since they are only ones who provide more factual information.

For me, the price would come into it to. I can't see it being that cheap though..! The Samyang 35/2.8 comes in about £265 I think. Has to be at least £400 and it's going to kill the sales of the Zony 2.8 too then.

Interesting though none the less :-)

my day job has become so unhealthy mentally...I can't even leave it behind when I go on vacation...its not that I want to take it with me...my boss, clients and contractors won't let me leave it behind...which is why I have to get out of it...my friend that is the Landscape Architect in SF...works 4 days a week on actual client work and projects. Friday is a business development day, or research day that often includes getting outdoors, he never works weekends and when he goes on vacation...he goes and leaves work behind...I want and need that lifestyle...
