Hi everyone. My name is Daniel and I have a G.A.S problem.

Has anyone had some hands on experience with the new Samyang 85mm f/1.4 AF? It reminds me so much of my old Sigma 85mm f.1.4 EX lens.

I was looking through old 85mm photos for something I'm writing and I can't help but miss having a f/1.4 lens. My 85mm f/1.8 is still quite new and in excellent condition so I could get a decent price for it if I wanted to sell and swap to the Samyang.

Time is short man, get the 1.4.
Don't feel guilty either. I'm waiting on 3 lenses now.

Haha I'm sure my gf wouldn't agree with this.

I realized that if I do make that switch, the only Sony lens I'll own is the 90mm Macro and everything else will be third party.

Have you tried it and heard the AF?

Don't own any F1.4. I think my Voightlander (sp?) 40mm is 1.2 :( and not AF :( :(

yep, I agree, have the 24, the 35 and 50 are too big for my tastes, but both real nice if you can deal with the weight and somewhat sluggish AF compared to Sony's counterparts.

I took some time off from editing Death Valley images for a while...but I am not done with them. So I ran this one through the process today, its one of my favorites from the trip, particularly in black and white.

its funny i ordered the 35mm f1.4 and the 35mm f2.8 at the same time, i luv the f2.8 version so much i returned the f1.4. the weight didnt bother me but i liked the way the 2.8 handled flare, the 2.8 is same size as the 24mm which is tiny, i had the sony 50 1.8 and it was very good, with the newest update for the samyang i find the 50 f1.4 to be comparable allthough its twice as big haha, the samyang dock is a must, i bought all my samyang from amazon and they were all returned by people that didnt like them, all were very outdated firmware, they made good changes in firmware to match the features on the newest a7 line up, my freind has a a7ii and my samyangs dont preform near as well on that model, but they work great on my a7iii.

That's ok, after years without one I only just started to own them again too. I went through a period where I cared more about the size and weight.

Wow I'm surprised you don't want to get the SamYang then and complete the set :p
I actually own the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 too which is why it's a bit harder for me to make the choice as the Sony lens is great itself.
