There are more at nearby Longues-sur-Mer too. Google these Normandy D-day beaches and you will find a ton of info. What I find interesting is that all the gun batteries were heavily shelled from battleships and bombed from the air before the landings. Despite this, they remained operative though with diminished effectiveness. Apparently the bombardment cut underground cables and disabled their aiming and ranging systems - so they had to be operated manually. Martin
