This morning we saw this sun-halo, which is an atmospheric phenomenon caused by high, thin cirrus clouds. Tiny ice crystals in Earth's atmosphere create the halos by refracting and reflecting the light.
I grabbed this shot using in-camera Auto Exposure Bracketing (7 frames) and offset the mid-point 1 stop under. HDR assembled in LR and then finished in PS CC.
The actual scene looked very similar to the final image, a testimony to the dynamic range of our Mk I eyeballs.
