Blue Angels practice run on Friday. No telephoto lens in my arsenal so I had to get creative. Any suggestions for a telephoto lens for my 6d? Would like to use it for National Parks and possibly some portrait work in the future. 70-200IS f/4 ?

You can never ever go wrong with a Canon 100-400. I sold mine when I went all Sony Mirrorless but boy did I love that lens. I really really miss it. Look at my Flickr page album of the Air Show. It was on a crop sensor camera (for the extra reach) but it's a tack sharp lens.

Can the 100-400 be used for hand held images? I worry about it being so large. Off to look at your images, thanks for the input.
I just noticed you went to Sedona. Great images. We are headed there next year.

Every picture you see in my Air Show album was hand held. Very easy to handle. Yes, Sedona was spectacular. Loved every second of it.

I'd second that, I love my 70-200 but on full frame it doesn't seem quite long enough to call telephoto. I do love my 300 f/4 but it's limiting without the zoom.
