I was playing with a lens that I don't have much experience with this weekend. It's a Tamron 150-600 G2.

I was really pleased with the results, hand held in pretty low light.

Hawfinch

Very Dark in the forest as the canopy was very dense with little light getting through. Most of my shots were between 1/30 - 1/100s. There was many a long wait for the few hawfinches to show but they easily got spooked by the Jays and noisy Blackbirds as well as the GS Woodpeckers. A slightest of any noise they were off only to show 30-40 minutes later. They would come from nowhere land on the ground or a low perch and inquisitively look around to see what was going on.

1/40, 7.1, ISO 1000... That is pretty low light.

Very nice results!

I've gotta say, this shot really is impressive. For shooting hand held, in low light, at 600mm...this shot is outstanding, Phil.

Your EXIF data is really impressive (1/40 sec., at 600mm, hand held). This image is very sharp and nicely composed, Paul.

Terrific shot of the red-shouldered hawk, Paul. I love the pose.
