The year the 85/1.8 came out Mark Galer said it was his 'pick of the year' for Sony gear. Images like this show why.

I really dont think they will have a new high rez out again until spring of 21. With the Olympics next year I think this is it. I dont know what an 9R would have. Now could they release a 7Siii and a 92 before the olympics yes but with this camera and my A9 I think for bodies I am set for 3 years minimum. Which means I can get back into lens mode next spring which will come down to tamron 17-28 or sony 16-35GM and still wanting the 85 1.8 I am fricken excited I don't hear negative comments... Just rationalizations of what the value proposition is... Particularly if you already have an a7riii, which is a very capable and balanced camera as is. I think there's greater urgency to upgrade if you're still using an a7rii, but worth waiting at least for a price drop below $3k if you have an riii. focalpointsphoto.com

A9 will always be optimized for speed, so lower MP is the best route to go. I do think we see an a9II before the Olympics though So Carlo what do you think the other 3 bodies might be? flickr

Jul 17, 2019 05:38 | #30877 Oh what a name can do. Such an uproar from some of the a7riii shooters that their 3 should’ve been this 4. Or that the jump from 3 to 4 isn’t that big. Or that they’re upset that they just bought the 3. I might be upset though if I had just bought the 3 like 1-2 months ago, less so if I had bought it at launch Current Gear: Sony RX1RII

He is pushing buttons on the camera and the thing is bouncing all over, it doesn't look steady at all...so...my mind is made up. I will stick with my Gitzo and RRS legs...just funny that a video on one thing, made up my mind about something else that probably wasn't intended to be in the video... Website
