Thanks Bill. It sure looks like you're getting more & more comfy with the Sony's now. :)

Thank you, Mike.

I had a Sigma 150-600 Sport & a 150-600 Contemporary (bought used, here) for our Canon bodies.

The Sport was an excellent lens that was very sharp, but honestly it needed a tripod to get the best results because it is &@#$ heavy!

The Contemporary was a bit on the soft side - regardless of numerous AFMA exercises and various tweaks to the lens via the dock. Perhaps it was just a "soft" copy of the lens, but I never really liked it.

So far (albeit limited experience) they Tammy 150-600 G2 seems to be a pretty strong contender. It's light enough that it can be carried around w/o causing undue stress and can be handheld quite easily. The IQ is very good, as is the VR / IS. It has an integrated ARCA Swiss foot, but I've not had it on a tripod thus far. Another handy feature is that it has a zoom lock that works at any focal length. IIRC, the Sig would only lock at 4(?) "set" FL's.

As is always the case, copy quality varies & what works for one may not always work for another.

Thank you for the excellent feedback, Phil. Your opinion will weigh heavily on my choice (when I decide to purchase one).

These are really wonderful shots, Chris!! You certainly know how to make the 80D perform at it's best.

I know, the setting & the light both suck, but it's just not possible for me to pass up a shot of one of these beauties. They are hard to come by in our neck-o-the-woods. This was a total surprise sighting!

Terrific capture, fotoi. Getting a shot of one of those guys around here, is next to impossible.

I think this shot came out nice, Phil. I'd be tickled to get a shot like that of an eagle.
