Lovely! Very sharp, natural but vibrant colours.

Thank you for the excellent feedback, Phil. Your opinion will weigh heavily on my choice (when I decide to purchase one).

I owned the V1 of the Tamron, and it was just inconsistent, even after having sent it back to Tamron for a firmware update.

Sold it for $750 and put that down on the Canon 100-400 II. I also rented the V1 of the 100-400 which was okay, and the old sigma 150-500... that thing was a tank, seemed sharper than the Tamron, but just way too bulky/weight for all day use.

I think you should consider the 100-400 II + crop body OR go with a nikon crop + 500pf OR Canon + 400 DOII. All three of these setups are the sweet spot for all day portability/handheld work.

Can't see much wrong with that. Nice sharp shot.
Don't under rate your picture.

I think this shot came out nice, Phil. I'd be tickled to get a shot like that of an eagle.

Thanks Guys!

You know how we are... Always could be better.

Honestly, I was shocked & excited by the sighting alone. Now, hanging the 600 + TC (that was in my back seat) out the window & up at that pole was a bit of a challenge.

It reminds me of a trip we took to far northern MN a couple years ago. We were driving along the Gunflint Trail and saw the most beautiful red fox pop out of the brush on wifey's side of the car - in perfect light. She was so excited to see it that she sat & stared. I had to nudge her & tell her to grab her camera! Lol!!!

That was me, when we came across this Bald Eagle. :)

Wonderful photo Mike, I'm amazed as to how many different Woodpeckers you get in the USA.

In the UK we have 3. The Lesser Spotted (similar to your Downy but smaller) is so rare you would be lucky to see one every 10 years. The Great Spotted which is very common and the Green.

The Hawfinch is a massive finch and are between 15-18cm in height.
They have huge heads which are full of muscle to operate its massive bill.

The Hawfinch is able to exert a massive 60kg of force, enough to crack open Cherry stones!
