In the long run, I think 100-400 is for me. It’s too big as is....can’t deal with the 200-600 size.

Charlie don't forget the 70-300G, I've got a primo copy and it is def. going on the trip. If it weren't for 'bear camp' I'd only take two lenses
for the trip. Chatting with Fred at FM it would be the 24/1.4 and the 200-600. Only two. Hard to imagine :) But the bears get close there
and the 70-300 on the Riii for those possible encounters.

David and Travis, I'll be in Atlanta next Friday (Aug 2) thru August 16 for work. Are there any spots that I have to check out? I think Travis mentioned Cloudland Canyon State Park. I also want to check out the overlook at Bell Mountain near Hiawassee and Tallulah Gorge. I may consider a visit to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's about a 3 hour drive from where I'm staying.

The rx100 7 has a 90fps burst mode!! That’s insane. That camera is a very appealing travel camera due to the zoom range and the a9 AF (and the small form factor). I’ve got no knowledge of the IQ of this line though

your mavic 2 pro has a similar 1" sensor :-)

should be similar in IQ.

I think an a9II will be announced later this year with higher resolution. Mark Galer kind of hinted at it in his latest video covering the a7RIV. I hope that’s true.

I didnt pick up the resolution comment so much as the A92 will have more robust focusing???? I truly believe now that the A9 is just a 1D competitor and will never have the resolution version. I am in the camp that a year from now a r5 will be out.

Here's some images of the greater Atlanta area, should give you enough ammunition to get some nice shots. From Bell Mtn outlook you will see Lake Hiawasse below. Helen (Bavarian-style town in Northeast Georgia, should also give you some nice photo ops. I traveled the entire Blue Ridge parkway in my MH, and they were some of my favorite spots.

I agree that an a9R was always a fantasy for some. The good news is that the a7R IV is the actually realized camera of those fantasies: a truly professional super-resolution fast shooting powerhouse.

That said, I can see the a9 II getting a modest boost in resolution - a bump up to 30MP while maintaining the original a9’s FPS would be both meaningful and realistically achievable.

Ahh ok.

Yeah I just realized my R2 has lasted me 4 years and realistically could last another 2. I dont shoot as many burds as MM or sports so I hope my A9 lasts 4 years at least. This R4 better!!!!...my biggest fear is not a more resolution version but a version that has 20 stops of DR next year with no noise.
