DavidArbogast Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 26, 2019 14:24 | #31130 I’m waffling a bit. An a7R IV as a priority purchase is gaining traction in my mind. One huge benefit I hadn’t really thought much about is the big improvement in DR from a7R II to a7R IV. It’s at least a full stop improvement. The a7R II DR was actually a slight downgrade from the original a7R. David | Flickr

I dont have an issue with f4 zooms for my videos, however there's only one that fits my little criteria and I own it, the 12-24. That exposed element on a gimbal that I just tend to knock around, probably my lamest concern of that lens, I need a filter. Secondly, the size is a tad too big, the Tamron is not drastically smaller, but being more compact does make a difference, the 12-24 girth can be problematic at times. It's basically a bag of primes for my usage, and doubles as a primary travel landscape lens, about to go on another trip, may or may not have much photography. Sure, I do like the range of 12-24 more, 12mm is wild for stills or video, and can create a lot of motion. If there was an easy way to front filter this lens, I might even pass on the Tamron, and suck it in. Unfortunately, dont know of any easy workarounds. I've tried several times to find a spare hood for the FE 12-24 to act as sacrifice for filter placement post a bit of cutting.....just can't find one. flickr
