You allways have to take care that the picture is well exposed .
In that case iso 2500 is not a problem at all, especially with the 1DX.
With Topaz denoise the last noise in the picture has gone.
Most of the time when i am after a flying dragon, you have to look if there is a pattern the dragon is flying.
Once I know where it is appear , I prefocus on that spot.
When the dragon comes back on that spot I will see him or her blurry through the viewfinder.
I never use autofocus in this case.
The thing to do is slowly manual focus on the dragon.
The 1dx becomes handy with its 12 Fps.
I´ll keep turning manual the focus ,while i am firing for a second 12 Fps.
I know that the first three pictures will not have that crisp sharpness, the same with the last three.
But in the middle of the 12 pictures one or two have to be razor sharp.
