I try and use my TCs whenever practical. My 1.4 much more than the 2x but the 2X has it's spots.

Thanks Mike, maybe Canon have sorted it, hard to know as they never admitted there was a problem anyway. I do know that when the oil spots problem first came to notice quite a few owners said they didn't have an issue and it turned out they had only been shooting wildlife at wide apertures. I recall some being horrified when they stopped down to f13 or f16 and took a shot of a clear sky and found they were looking at an oil storm!

I appreciate your comment on this oil spot problem. I did the sky test, and all was good. I hope it stays that way.
