Both heavily cropped, to bring out the detail in their eyes. You know how leafhoppers like to squirrel around to the back side of the stem, I could get it back by putting my finger under the stem.

Alot of bugs don't like spit, so I will sometimes surround those smaller insects that can't or don't fly with a "spit ring" Gross, I know, but it works. :D

Something I've never seen before, a bagworm moth spinning attachment silk around a twig. I did see a mating pair many years ago, but no camera with me at the time.

...One question I have is how do you stabilize your camera while doing macro? Bees and Butterflies are busy little creatures so I don't think I will have time for a tripod but I do need a little something to aid me.

Left Hand Brace Technique (external link) -it's how I take as much control over the motion in a scene as possible. The flash won't always fire fast enough to freeze motion.

The weekend macro "practice" was in my backyard. I think a few more areas in the back yard are getting flowers next year! So I can get more bugs. I never thought that I would say that lol. Thanks for the encouragement and the tips, tricks and pointers each one greatly appreciated.

Has anyone baited with a food source for better bug pictures. I am considering sugar water for bees.
