I am on Hilton Head Island for work again this week...and brought the gear, made the drive over to Hunting Island to try and get an image for the new hotel...but it was high tide and the beach was not accessible....it was under 4 feet of heavy surf. I did run into this GBH. I wish I had the 200-600. It would have done much better.

I like it.... almost wish the big tree on the left was a little more out of focus cause the focus on the bird really pops!!!

Bokeh balls with Tam 17-28.
The figurine is a Timberwolf from MechWarrior.
I've been playing (the only online game I play) Mechwarrior Online for a long long time.
This Timberwolf sits on top of my monitor....until pressed into bokeh duty :)
F2.8 Focus point right on his nose.

Here's the Timberwolf at F10 for the whole picture.
The figuring is 2 inches tall by the way.
This lens really puts out the detail/is sharp sharp sharp.
More I play with it more I know it will live on the Riii for most of the trip.

i'm curious how you display your figures :P you seem to have alot hehe

Sadly they are all hidden away inside an IKEA besta cupboard. Aside from the ones in the photo, I have a normal sized Danbo and a Geralt Nendoroid and a few more.

I'd love to display them out in the open but my girlfriend won't let me. The benefit to having them in there is she doesn't notice when the collection keeps growing :p hahaha

Superb Charlie, really enjoyed watching that. I have always wanted to go there, such a different culture from home. The bike section at the start was really good (GoPro time warp?), liked your sons mcgregor walk :), transitions were brilliant throughout (I need to watch again to get the timings to ask you about a couple of them), really liked the end section too where you mixed photos and videos and cut between them quickly especially the motion in the video section.

Very nicely done

Excellent Charlie. What part of Vietnam was this at?

I’ve got 4 or 5 custom transitions, some basic final cut ones, and frame blocking for most of them.

Whip pan zoom left, right, up, and the 180 whirl flip. I use these as desperation transitions lol. Because I’m going the wrong way, poorly planned shot, or dramatic changes. Fast cut is another transition I like to use to change topic or scenery. I used a food fast cut to change out a few scenes into totally unrelated places, or cutting to a similar object works too.

Hyperlapse done with the Insta360 one x, the only device I know that can hyperlapse to normal footage because it’s done entirely in post. GoPro for some of the time lapses. Tons of sound design, many self recorded, some from final cut various sounds.

Agree with Robert, pretty big move. I'll miss your SA photography.

'my girlfriend won't let me'. Well I"m old school redneck, 'won't let me' would mean new girlfriend.

Charlie very pro and completely enjoyable to watch. Everyone in the creek fishing looked like
huge family fun. I assume it was you who put the basket down/reached in and actually
caught a fish?
Intro was fantastic. All the food shots were killing me (I"ve lost 12 pounds now and am walking
a lot so am always hungry), but the food there looks delicious.
Well for me and Poof it would be a dream trip to visit.

On the video production I can only say I'm very envious. It's not like I don't have the gear or could get
it. I'm just not motivated sadly to do video. Do you think it's my old age/generation? Heck, might even
be genetic....I read that some people don't like to travel and there is hereditary basis for those who do and dont.

So I was severed from my company last week... Actually the second time I got severed from this place... Was severed in 2016 and came back last year. Between that I worked for a company that was sold off, and took a contractor role that ended when the project I worked on was finished. So in 5 years I was terminated from 4 roles for reasons that had nothing to do with performance. In that time I spent 13 months without a paycheck outside of severance checks that I blew through.

I'll be fine this time around as I'm confident I'll land something quickly since I'm basically a professional at being unemployed and have built good networks because I have to

I'm technically not a millennial, but I get the struggles that millenials face... So much career uncertainty these days. I'm pretty fortunate in the grand scheme of things... But it's very hard to just plan your feet and set your family up for the future these days when you're constantly bouncing around with your career trying to survive the day to day

Sorry to hear this. I was in that position in the Houston oil scene back in the 80s with a young family so I totally know where you are coming from.

I’m sorry to hear about your job Carlo. My current contact ends next year which is why I’m making the move. Change is never easy. I know you’ll land on a great job soon. I’m sure you know to leverage LinkedIn and such. I wish you the best of luck.
