Great job on this Charlie! My wife is Vietnamese so this was a treat for me to see the food, city life and other clips.

I can tell you are a gentleman.
'my girlfriend won't let me'. Well I"m old school redneck, 'won't let me' would mean new girlfriend.

Haha thanks and my gf has made more calm over the years. When I was younger I would always argue back but these days I just stay quiet and let her calm down then we can talk properly.

So I was severed from my company last week... Actually the second time I got severed from this place... Was severed in 2016 and came back last year. Between that I worked for a company that was sold off, and took a contractor role that ended when the project I worked on was finished. So in 5 years I was terminated from 4 roles for reasons that had nothing to do with performance. In that time I spent 13 months without a paycheck outside of severance checks that I blew through.

I'll be fine this time around as I'm confident I'll land something quickly since I'm basically a professional at being unemployed and have built good networks because I have to

I'm technically not a millennial, but I get the struggles that millenials face... So much career uncertainty these days. I'm pretty fortunate in the grand scheme of things... But it's very hard to just plan your feet and set your family up for the future these days when you're constantly bouncing around with your career trying to survive the day to day

Sorry to hear man and I’m sure you’ll find more work soon! I’ve had my jobless period and I remember at one stage it took me 1 year to even land a part time job in the city I was in at the time.

For some people we just struggle when we’re younger but as we get older our luck improves and things start to work out better for us. I hope your time is real soon!

Sorry to hear, I cringe at the idea of getting another job, being at the same one for so long. I'm the only income, so it's extra cringe to think about it. Good luck with the search.

Charlie very pro and completely enjoyable to watch. Everyone in the creek fishing looked like
huge family fun. I assume it was you who put the basket down/reached in and actually
caught a fish?
Intro was fantastic. All the food shots were killing me (I"ve lost 12 pounds now and am walking
a lot so am always hungry), but the food there looks delicious.
Well for me and Poof it would be a dream trip to visit.

On the video production I can only say I'm very envious. It's not like I don't have the gear or could get
it. I'm just not motivated sadly to do video. Do you think it's my old age/generation? Heck, might even
be genetic....I read that some people don't like to travel and there is hereditary basis for those who do and dont.

not me in the mud, I dont play those games :-P

the sounds in the video were mostly vietnam environment recorded separately on my iphone, I tried to convey that in the video. I find it very interesting because America is so quiet in comparison, no roosters or odd jungle animals :-P

video just takes a type of motivation that takes time to break through, like our photography. You inch your way into it, and before you know it, you're in deep waters. Compare it to your wildlife passion, it didnt happen overnight, you probably took some animal photos one day, liked it, took more the next day, and somewhere down the line of this repetitive process you decide to do a dedicated birding trip for a few hours of shooting.... and then theres no going back. I have videos of my oldest 14 year old as a baby, but I didnt really break through into video till 3 years ago? Around the time my fourth child, I told myself more videos of the kids and it was a new beginning for me, my third and fourth child are nine years apart, like being a new parent all over again. I did more video, and the more i did it, there became a tumble effect one day, and then I started to get it and enjoy it. I enjoyed some landscape photos and taking timelapses in vietnam.

This current video took me a week to complete, and I feel it's less sloppy than my previous videos, and I'm ok with how long it took to compile. I'm learning the patience it takes to create something, and in learning, I get faster and faster, it becomes a rhythm.

As for travel question, my mom doesnt like to travel either, but she felt compelled to help with my kids and went along. She'll do it out of family obligations. I really want to go to Japan.....

side note on vimeo.... I need a youtube account, just havent went that direction due to privacy concerns, the 540p or whatever, does the video no justice, when most of the footage is in 4K......

Bravo Charlie, great job. Vietnamese cuisine is a favorite. I believe there is a lot of french influence in the Vietnamese cuisine .

There was a great Vietnamese restaurant just outside the military base in Homestead Fl. I use to eat there all the time.

Some good news to report on the a6400.
The AF Continuous works a charm. As good as a9? Maybe not but lock on it did and
followed even with cluttered background. I got 8 shots of this guy.
So I can recommend the 6400 for BIF, if (at this point it isn't faster or smaller than an RTH since
I don't have experience there).

I've grown to detest the rangefinder style BUT now time to eat crow (or hawk in this case. Wonder what
hawk tastes like anyway?). The camera is certainly capable and I have to admit I love the weight.
Oh, important. I was tracking on the a6400 with the 100-400 + 1.4TC.
Still a sizeable crop (and the beauty of a crop sensor to get anything).

I paid $720 for this body. Not too bad I think now.

Thanks for the update on how well the a6400 tracks. I'm still debating if the low volume of images I take lately justifies buying any new camera at this point.

I can certainly sympathize with your employment delima Carlo, after going through TWO bad business partnerships with "friends" and having to totally change my career path at the age of 42. With your positive attitude and strong self-confidence, I'm sure you'll come out on top once again.

Carlo I've got the cabin/lake house. You're welcome to land there for as long as you need. Rent free if you teach me how to do landscapes :)
I'm lucky so far in being stable but there is always always always the fear of what corporate will do. No one is immune if you are in the work force. It really
could happen to any of us at any time :(

Good luck with the job search. My sons have experienced much of the same in their careers. Personally, I've experienced only 4 significant career changes in 40+ years and seriously doubt that I would handle today's employment environment as well as you and my sons seem to be doing.

In the same boat here. I considered retiring my older Canon bodies, but then haul it out and shoot it and get some good images. I have enough native E lenses for my A7R3 and while I'm not a fan of lens adapters, I like the ability to use my Canon lenses on both my Canon and Sony bodies.

Sadly they are all hidden away inside an IKEA besta cupboard. Aside from the ones in the photo, I have a normal sized Danbo and a Geralt Nendoroid and a few more.

I'd love to display them out in the open but my girlfriend won't let me. The benefit to having them in there is she doesn't notice when the collection keeps growing :p hahaha

lol how do you keep the extra pieces? Id love to throw away the boxes but end up keeping them because of they just do a better job on keeping the extra parts safe and not have to just toss in a bag and having them rub against each other. (keep your minds clean now :P)
