Could be, but they moult in summer-autumn and lose their colours.
Then colour up for the breeding season (now - Spring - well its almost that)
I can't tell ages except when they are very small and have funny little tails.
However some males keep colour right through winter - just to be different  :p
The species is common but Tasmanian ones are different to mainland Australia. Clipper from Oz put up a beauty recently form Victoria
