Fantastic shots! Rumors are there will be 3 other Sony cameras coming soon. I think one of them will be an a9II.

On my day off I went to our local "lighthouse" park. Still amazed at the West Coast life many do not take advantage. Just lugged a pair of A73 with GM 16-35 and GM70-200 f/2.8 and Godox V1 flash. I'll be using that same combo for a Family session I'm doing today.....

Fantastic shots! Rumors are there will be 3 other Sony cameras coming soon. I think one of them will be an a9II.

Would much rather have mini-a9. I need the pixel density of a crop sensor. Lived it over and over 1DXii vs. 7Dii and even a9 vs. a6500/6400/6300.
The a9ii would have to be 42mpx and that would still only give 18mpx in the crop but the density would still be way way shy of an APS-C sensor.
That said I've no regrets pre-ordering the A7Riv. 7.11 pixel density in the Riv where a D850 is 5.32. That is a huge difference. Plus with the Riv
at 10fps in aps-c I can still rattle off 175+ images. If I can get a BIF with the a6400 at 8fps then no worries. Yep a mini-a9 with 30mpx sensor would
rule the world!
But watch it be the RX10v, the RX1Riii, or a7Siii

I'm not the sort to sell my camera gear. For my Fuji gear I had no issues selling off my lenses. As far as my Fuji X-t2 with battery grip...I virtually gave it away as the pre-owned Camera body market price drops like a rock.

I think your excellent GM85mm will find a new home..hopefully soon.

if i have the $$, i'm not selling it. I just really been looking for a 105F1.4 for awhile. It looks like Sony won't do it. It's hard to beat that Sigma.

Be warned the 105 f/1.4 is a beast. Both beast mode in performance and weight!! The Bokeh Master makes my GM70-200 f/2.8 feel lighter and nimble LOL!!

I almost bought a GMaster 85mm last week simply because it's smaller and lighter than my 105 f/1.4. Times warrant the 105mm and for convenience the 85mm also seems to be extremely nice in the gear bag.

I know. i bought it before and returned. My inspirations are Lisa Holloway and Meg Bitton, they're both women and they're using 200mm F2 which is beast x 2.

I like a prime lens. sharper and it forces me to use the focal length. unlike the zoom lens which sometimes we stay in one place and use the zoom. Sometimes on a portrait session, i intentionally bring 1 lens(85GM), to force myself to work with it creatively. and most of my portrait are outdoor.

thanks for the warning though.

I think if you want to replicate that shallow dof, using a 135 f/1.8 is going to be easier to get creamy bokeh without spending a lot of money.

I compromise as 105mm gives me some decent work space between subjects and a nice f/1.4 shallow dof.

What's interesting with photography is that "we" are very particular. Photogs amongst photogs are extremely critical. The clients (generally speaking) tend to be happy with nice bokeh and of course composition. Owning a 5000+dollar lens will not provide you 5-10x more money in your wallet in sales.

My voice of reason has been battling my G.A.S. lately and it's messing me up :P

Heck I feel like buying a Gmaster 135 now LOL!!

On another note the 105mm has better compression than 85mm. However sometimes I feel a different feel and my comfort zone still gravitates to 85mm.

I also took 4 kids ages 10-14 up there. Here are my two with their first look of the lake after the climb through the boulder fields. What an amazing place!

Fun fact....The pointed peak in the distance is Thomson peak....highest in the Sawtooth range toping out at 10,751'. That's a great overnighter. Camp at a lake around 9000' and summit the next day.

I like the way they are looking up, saying, dangggg, I just hiked up this MTN, and I thought I was on top. ( In disbelief )

Some thing for the photo album for sure, it will be admired years from now when they are all grown up !!!

"That's a great overnighter. Camp at a lake around 9000' and summit the next day"

Now you have all of us waiting for that over niter with images from Thomson peak looking down and out from there

A drone from where you were at would be cool ( hint ) :-) :-)
