My wife has to have a monthly infusion...without insurance it would be over $14,000 a month...it costs us about $600 a month...so while a lot of people don't like our healthcare system...I for one am thankful for insurance. Yes it sucks to pay a lot per year for her medication...but without it...it would be all of the money we make a year and then some...and without the medication, I would be without her...

Americans are literally dying because they can’t afford basic life-sustaining insulin. That’s not anything to be thankful for.

I never said it was a perfect system...only that I am thankful that my family has insurance that allows my wife to NOT die...because without it she would...that was my point...not that I think its a perfect system...so please don't read it that way.

and BTW...she had the option last year to change over to insurance from "The Marketplace"...her doctors were not on the approved list and the medication she is on now wasn't either...so on that system, she would just have to go ahead and die...

PS2....insulin and its price, is not controlled by insurance companies...but the monopoly the manufacturers have on the market and the politicians in their pocket protecting them...

I’ve said all I’m going to say on the American healthcare system here in this forum, so back to photography! :)

This is gorgeous Travis! The warm hues are particularly wonderful to my eyes. And the blurry foreground works well to pull my eyes. Was this an early morning shot? It looks that way whether or not it is.

my apologies...I am a bit touchy on the subject because it has life changing consequences for my family...I agree...back to pictures.

Thanks David...not sure why I never finished the edit before. It was on my spring trip in 2018 where I was really trying to challenge myself to see the Smokies from different angles since I have been there so many times. So we found new trees to shoot, like this one...and I was sitting down in the tall grasses...passing tourists thought I had snuck up on a bear...this one was sunset actually, sunrise there might be really nice, but take forever to get to since you would have to walk in and it is a ways in.

I'd like to just point out that it is very likely that the cost of the infusion your wife needs is probably inflated because of our healthcare system... the way to check that is to determine what the cost of the same infusion would be in Mexico or Canada - I'll bet (but don't know, obviously) it is so much lower that you'd be happy to just pay for it out of pocket.

Quick trip to the closest bit of coast to home. Not overly exciting but some fresh air does us good :)

Needed to shoot this weekend so ran to the Botanical gardens. With just the A9 1.4tc and 100-400GM and YES I TOOK MY MACRO 90 with the A7r2.

Without cheating which is the A9 shot and which is the A7r2 shot (cropped)

My wild guess is the top image was done using the FE 90. I think it would have the shallower DOF than the a9 + 100-400 + 1.4 ext. which I'm guessing is the bottom image.

But then again, I've been known to be wrong at least once before! :p

Bottom one appears cropped to me, so that’s my guess for a7R II shot. Regardless the top image looks a lot nicer with a less congested background.

EDIT: Gene makes a great comment and he has me convinced.

not the best picture I have ever taken...but a special one anyway...we had our back to school bash tonight...she is starting 3rd grade and it blows my mind. She has been in school with the girl on the left side since PreK3 and they are best friends...yes, she is that tall...the other girl is actually like 8 months older too! Anyway...yall have seen several pictures of her over the years...whats one more.
